The Colorful sketches
Colored pencils and graphite
This is where my sketches live! I love experimenting with different types of poses and love how unique characters emerge from this process.
I'll usually crack open the sketchbook when I'm scrolling through Instagram or Pinterest– as this is where I find a lot of cool references and am immediately inspired. Other times, I'll be people-watching or just taking in the uniqueness of every day life and find inspiration there.
Character concept sketches
Graphite
My character concept sketches emerge one of two ways.
The first way: I'll see a cool reference photo and draw it, and then they'll become a character I draw multiple times throughout my art.
The other way is: I'll already have a character in mind and either draw them in my own posing based off experience, or I'll find reference photos that match the style of the character.
Either way, these characters come to life in my work and have been with me for a very long time!
